Course Overview and Philosophy

Our musical program is carefully designed to cultivate technical proficiency, musical expression and intellectual understanding. The pedagogical approach is informed by the philosophy that musical ability is not an inborn talent but rather a skill developed through supportive environment, careful listening and consistent practice, akin to language acquisition. Hence, the course adapts to individual student goals, whether preparing for musical examination, developing a lifelong artistic pursuit, or exploring music for personal enrichment.

Our course is divided into three integrated modules, each focusing on a core aspect of piano/violin mastery. Lessons are conducted in a one-on-one setting, with a recommended duration of 60 minutes for intermediate/advanced students and 45 minutes for beginners.

Course Structure

Pedagogical Methology

Musical instruction is delivered through a blend of traditional and progressive techniques, prioritising auditory development and physical awareness. The initial assessment, crucial for setting a tailored learning path, evaluates the student's coordination, aural skills, and personal objectives.

Systematic technical work forms the backbone of any instrumental command. Daily scale and arpeggio practice, following the cycle of fifths, build intonation and fingerboard knowledge. Etudes by Wohlfahrt, Sevcik, and Kreutzer are used to isolate and develop specific technical challenges in a controlled manner before application into repertoire.
